BUTTONFEST - SATURDAY 11th OCTOBER 2025
WHEN, WHERE & HOW MUCH
9.30 am - 3.30 pm at Burwood Heights Uniting Church, Burwood East, cnr Burwood Hwy / Blackburn Rd.
There will be a display of club members’ treasured buttons. The theme for the display is “Once Upon A Time”, featuring buttons relating in some way to story books, fables, myths, etc. Cards of buttons, boxed sets and individual special buttons will all be displayed.
Cost is $4 per adult. Children under 12 are free.
CAN I BUY BUTTONS?
There will be some 30 tables of buttons for sale.
If you haven’t been before, once you arrive and see for yourself, you’ll be disappointed that you missed the event in previous years.
You’ll have the chance to see and buy choice offerings from the thousands of buttons offered for sale, ranging from modern unusual designs to genuine art deco types, uniform buttons, glass and celluloid buttons, and some enameled buttons from the 1800’s. Crafting buttons in all sorts of shapes, colours and materials will be on offer as well. Usually, some button related objects will also be for sale on some of the club member’s sale tables.
Crafters and both beginner and serious collectors will be able to find something to buy and treasure.
We may not have the luxury of a coffee van on site this year as many want to charge an 'attendance fee' when sales numbers may be low. However, the K-mart shopping centre across Blackburn Rd has cafes and eating places for lunch.
PARKING
Car parking is available in the church car-park, and on sections of Blackburn Rd.
GETTING THERE VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT
For public transport users the ptv.vic.gov.au website will assist. Click on ‘Plan’, then ‘Journey Planner’ and enter your start date, start point, end destination and either departure or arrival time.
Tram 75 runs along Flinders Street from the City, and finally all the way along Burwood Highway. Alight at Stop 70 for the Buttonfest, opposite the shopping centre at the corner of Burwood Highway and Blackburn Road. Note that this is currently not a ‘low-floor tram route’.
Two options for train travellers: -
- Go to Syndal, the second last stop on the Glen Waverley line. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Route 703 bus on Blackburn Rd.
- Go to Blackburn, on the Lilydale line. Catch the Route 703 bus from the railway station. This runs south along Blackburn Road.
